Moult mode
Switching a bird to moult tracking, and bringing it back down afterward.
Entering moult mode
When a bird starts moulting, open its profile and choose Enter moult mode. Set a moult target weight, FalconryScale suggests a target about 10% above the bird's current weight. While in moult:
- The bird's flying window pauses, it's no longer flagged as ready or not ready to fly.
- Its feeding schedule switches to a moult plan, aimed at maintaining or gaining weight to support healthy feather replacement rather than holding a flying weight.
- Weight alerts change: normal rapid-drop and range alerts are suppressed, and you're only alerted if the bird's weight drops below the moult target.
The moult card on the bird's feeding screen shows the day count since moult started, current weight against target, and how much more (or how far over) the bird is.
Ending moult
Choose End moult when the bird is ready to come back into flying condition. You can either:
- Start bring-down, a gradual, safe reduction back to flying weight, see Feeding and food.
- End moult (no bring-down), if you'd rather manage the reduction yourself.
