Weight alerts
How FalconryScale catches a sudden weight drop, and how to configure it.
FalconryScale checks every empty-stomach weigh-in against two things: a sudden drop, and an optional target range you set. Fed weights aren't checked, since they aren't directly comparable.
Rapid weight drop
If a weigh-in drops faster than a threshold compared with the last empty-stomach weight in the previous 24 hours, you get an alert. The threshold is based on the bird's typical size unless you set your own:
- Under 300 g: 5%
- 300 g to 1000 g: 7%
- 1000 g and over: 8%
A drop of 10% or more is flagged as critical rather than a warning.
Target weight range
You can also set a minimum and maximum weight for a bird. Fall below the minimum, or rise above the maximum, and you'll get an alert.
Configuring alerts
Open Alert settings from the raptor's weighing or feeding screen to:
- Turn alerts on or off for that bird.
- Set a custom rapid-drop percentage, overriding the species default.
- Set a target weight range.
Moult mode changes alert behaviour
While a bird is in moult mode, the normal rapid-drop and range alerts are suppressed. Instead, you're only alerted if the bird's weight drops below the moult target, since the expectation during moult is weight gain for feather growth, not loss.
Getting notified
Every alert sends a push notification, and (if you've enabled it) a browser notification on the web, with the same title and message you see in the app.
