Bluetooth scale

Pairing FalconryScale's smart scale, and sharing it across a team.

Rolling out

Bluetooth scale support is rolling out gradually. If you don't see a Scale option yet when logging a weight, it isn't switched on for your account yet.

Why pair a scale

A paired scale streams a live reading straight into FalconryScale the moment your bird settles, so you can log a weight hands-free with a hawk still on the glove, precise to 0.1 g.

Pairing

From Log weight, choose Scale as the input method and tap to pair, or go to Settings → Scale. FalconryScale scans for nearby FalconryScale devices:

  1. If one scale is found, confirm the ID on its underside matches before connecting.
  2. If several are found, pick the one you want.
  3. FalconryScale connects, reads the device's serial number, firmware and battery, then subscribes to its live weight stream. This takes up to about 10 seconds.

If pairing doesn't finish, check that the scale's pairing light is still pulsing (it stops after 60 seconds, hold the pair button for 3 seconds to restart it), that your phone is within about a metre of the scale and away from metal mews walls, and that the scale isn't still paired to another phone.

One phone at a time

A FalconryScale scale talks to one phone at a time. Pairing it to a new phone unpairs it from whichever phone had it before, you'll be asked to confirm the switch. Every weigh-in you've already logged stays in your records regardless of which phone was connected when you logged it.

Sharing a scale in a team

On a team's shared scale, only the phone actively weighing holds the Bluetooth connection: a phone that goes to the background releases the link immediately so a teammate can take over, and only reconnects automatically when its own weighing screen is open. This keeps a shared scale from being locked to whoever last opened the app.

Battery

FalconryScale shows the scale's battery percentage, with a warning as it gets low, so you're not caught out mid-weigh-in.
