Selling

List a bird for sale, meet the CITES paperwork requirement, and manage your listings.

Rolling out

The marketplace is rolling out gradually. If you don't see Marketplace in the app yet, it isn't on your account yet. Check back soon.

Selling needs Pro

Listing a bird needs FalconryScale Pro (including the grace period after a lapsed subscription) and acceptance of the marketplace terms, shown once before your first listing. Withdrawing a listing, and recording a sale, stay available even if Pro lapses, so a lapsed subscription can never trap a live listing on the market.

Zero commission, always

FalconryScale never takes a cut of a sale. There's no payment flow in the app: you and the buyer arrange payment directly between yourselves.

Creating a listing

Tap List a bird. You can optionally link one of your own raptor records (Linked bird): a linked listing can share its verified weight history and hunting record, which buyers trust more than an unlinked claim. A bird can only have one open listing at a time.

Fill in:

  • Species, Listing title, and a Description (temperament, training progress, flying weight, what she's hunted)
  • Hatch year and Training status
  • Price and Country (an active listing needs a valid ISO country code)
  • Region, optional
  • At least one photo, up to 8, the first is the cover
  • Verified history: toggle Share weight history and Share hunting record so buyers see your real logged data
  • CITES compliance, see below

A new listing saves as a draft until you publish it.

CITES compliance

Publishing a listing, not just completing a sale, is gated on paperwork. Every species carries a CITES status: Appendix I, Appendix II, or not listed. A species with no recorded status is treated as the strictest case (Appendix I) until FalconryScale's data says otherwise.

  • Appendix I species need at least one compliance document (for example an Article 10 certificate) attached from your document vault before you can publish, on top of confirming you hold the required paperwork.
  • Appendix II species need you to confirm you hold the paperwork required for a legal sale in your country; no document upload is required by the app itself.
  • Species that aren't CITES-listed skip this step.

If a listing is suspended for missing or incomplete paperwork, open it from My listings · Closed and use Attach papers to add the missing documents and resubmit; this re-runs the same publication check a new listing goes through.

You're responsible for the law that applies to you

FalconryScale is a venue, not a party to any sale. You're responsible for complying with the wildlife-trade laws that apply to you and to the buyer, CITES and otherwise. The app's compliance gate is a minimum check, not legal advice.

Managing a listing

My listings shows every listing you've created, whatever its status: draft, active, reserved, sold, withdrawn, or suspended.

  • Publish moves a draft, or a previously withdrawn listing, onto the market, running the CITES gate again.
  • Editing a live listing re-runs the same compliance check, so an edit can never put a published listing back below the bar.
  • Withdraw takes an open listing off the market without deleting it, so you keep the record and can relist later.
  • A draft that never went to market can be deleted outright; a published listing's history is kept even once withdrawn, for transparency.
  • Once a withdrawn listing is off the market for good, you can remove it from My listings · Closed without losing the record.

Marking a sale

Once you've agreed a sale outside the app, mark the listing Sold from your listing's stage controls, optionally naming the buyer (if they have a FalconryScale account) and the final price, for your own record on My listings.

In-app ownership transfer, where the bird's full record moves to the buyer automatically, is not live yet. See Transactions for what that looks like today and what's planned.
