Safety

Reporting, blocking, safety tips and the legal basics for buying and selling on the marketplace.

Rolling out

The marketplace is rolling out gradually. If you don't see Marketplace in the app yet, it isn't on your account yet. Check back soon.

Reporting a listing or a user

From a listing or a conversation, open the safety menu and choose Report this listing or Report this user. Pick the closest reason:

  • Misleading description or weights
  • Missing or fake CITES papers
  • Welfare concern
  • Scam or payment request
  • Abuse or harassment
  • Something else

Add optional details, then Send report. Reports are confidential, the person you report never knows who reported them. FalconryScale's team reviews every report.

Blocking someone

Block a user from the same safety menu to stop their messages and hide their listings from you. A block works in both directions: once either of you blocks the other, neither can contact the other through the marketplace.

Moderation you don't see

Messages are checked against patterns that correlate with marketplace scams (requests for wire transfers, gift cards, cryptocurrency, "no paperwork" offers, and similar). A match flags the message for the team to review, it's never silently blocked or edited, so a false flag never costs you a conversation. Sending too many messages, conversations or reports in a short time is rate limited.

Safety tips

Meet in person before paying. Ask to see the Article 10 certificate (or your country's equivalent) and recent weight slips. Never pay a deposit or send money before you've seen the bird and its paperwork in person.

CITES and the law

Every species on the marketplace carries a CITES status. Appendix I species can't be published without the seller's attached compliance paperwork; Appendix II species need the seller to confirm they hold what's required. That check happens before a listing goes live, it's a minimum bar, not a guarantee, so always verify the paperwork yourself before you commit to a sale. See Selling for exactly what a seller has to provide.

FalconryScale is a venue, not a party to any sale

The marketplace connects falconers; it doesn't buy, sell, or take a cut of anything. You're responsible for complying with the wildlife-trade laws that apply to you, CITES and otherwise, wherever you and the other party are.

If something feels wrong about a listing, a message, or a person, report it and don't go further until you're sure. See Transactions for how a sale is arranged today.
